Wrenthorpe Academy Shines in Latest Ofsted Inspection

Wrenthorpe Academy is celebrating a glowing Ofsted inspection report following its January 2025 visit. Inspectors praised the school’s strong leadership, inclusive ethos, and high academic expectations, confirming it has successfully maintained the high standards identified in its previous inspection.

The report highlights the school’s ambitious curriculum, nurturing environment, and high-quality teaching, ensuring pupils thrive both academically and personally. From the early years, children are encouraged to be curious, confident learners, with teachers fostering resilience and ambition. The school’s strong phonics programme and enthusiasm for reading were recognised as particular strengths.

Pupil well-being and personal development are at the heart of school life, with mindfulness, emotional literacy, and leadership opportunities embedded throughout the curriculum. Inspectors commended the exceptional level of pastoral care provided, noting how pupils are well-prepared for the future. A rich variety of extracurricular activities, from African drumming to gardening and sports, further enhances learning experiences.

Headteacher Lauren Penny, who joined the school in 2023, expressed her pride: “This report is a testament to the dedication of our staff, pupils, and families. At Wrenthorpe, we believe in creating a place ‘where everyone is valued,’ and it’s wonderful to see that reflected in this inspection.”
