Celebrating Science Week Across Waterton

‘Change and Adapt’ with Waterton Science Week
10th to 14th March saw all Waterton schools celebrate British Science week…and what a wonderful week it was! This year’s theme was ‘change and adapt’ – a broad theme that allowed Waterton Science leaders to create activities linked to many scientific topics. From squashing and squeezing materials to suit new purposes to observing and recording the changes that happen in the life cycle of a chicken…Waterton Science Week had something for everyone.
Exploring this theme also meant that we could consider how attitudes to STEM and the people who do it have changed and adapted over the years. Linking back to last year’s theme of ‘Everyone’s a Scientist’, we were able to show that perceptions of scientists are changing and why it’s important to keep adapting our thinking until we can no longer picture a ‘stereotypical scientist’.
A huge thank you to the Waterton Science Network, who worked together to create all the resources and investigations that were carried out. We can’t wait for BSW 2026 and the collaborative science projects that are to come!
