King’s Meadow Academy Celebrates Strong Progress in Latest Ofsted Inspection

In the spring term, staff and pupils at King’s Meadow Academy celebrated a successful Ofsted inspection, which took place on 11–12 February 2025. The inspection marked a significant step forward for the school, with Ofsted recognising clear improvements in leadership, behaviour, and the quality of education since the last visit.

The school was judged to be ‘Good’ in key areas including leadership and management, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and early years provision. The quality of education, while still requiring improvement overall, is on an upward trajectory, with Ofsted praising the school’s renewed ambition and phased curriculum development.

Inspectors highlighted the impact of the newly introduced ‘KMA Way’—a structured teaching model supported by regular training and clear expectations. This, combined with a consistent phonics programme and increased reading support, is beginning to raise standards across the school. Pupils were noted to be happy, safe, and enthusiastic about their learning, benefiting from a calm, nurturing environment and a growing range of enrichment opportunities.

The report also praised the school’s inclusive ethos, effective safeguarding, and the strong partnership with the Waterton Academy Trust. Attendance has improved significantly, thanks to a proactive and supportive approach with families. Leaders, including the Headteacher and trust representatives, were recognised for their shared vision and collective commitment to sustained improvement.

Dan Gough, Headteacher, said: “This outcome reflects the dedication of our staff, the support of our community, and the hard work of our pupils. We are proud of the progress made and excited about the journey ahead.”

With a strong foundation now in place, King’s Meadow Academy remains focused on embedding recent changes and securing long-term gains for all pupils. The full report is available on the Ofsted website.
