Spring Summary Regarding our Initial Teacher Trainees

A huge congratulations to our current Waterton student teachers who have successfully completed Stage 2 of their training and only have a matter of months now remaining. They are about to embark on their final Stage 3 school placements. These will conclude in early July, when they will gain full Qualified Teacher Status.

Our ITT’s have most recently completed their final Intensive Training and Practice weeks with a focus on developing assessment literacy. These experiences are learning opportunities designed to develop skills and knowledge in foundational areas of the curriculum.

This involved a return to Leeds Trinity University with a study on the critical role of strong subject content and pedagogy in enabling teachers to make accurate and meaningful assessments. It likewise enriched their understanding of assessment’s critical role in the classroom, preparing them for Stage 3, where there is a greater responsibility for planning to ensure progression.

This culminated in a Pupil Progress Panel, where the group shared their insights and reflections from the two ITAP weeks, doing so with meaningful professional dialogue, supported by school based evidence gathering.

A huge thank you for your hard work and dedication, you are one step closer on your teaching journey and here at Waterton we feel extremely proud of all the progress you have made so far. Congratulations to you all.
