Letter of Recognition Celebrates Leadership and Impact at Normanton Junior Academy and Sharlston Community School

Today, the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education, has written to headteachers of schools demonstrating exceptional attainment outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
We are delighted to share that Normanton Junior Academy and Sharlston Community School have both received a letter recognising the excellent outcomes achieved by their disadvantaged pupils at the end of the 2024/25 academic year. As a result, both schools’ performance is ranked among the very best nationally.
This recognition is a testament to the strength of each school community and their unwavering commitment to closing attainment gaps and ensuring that disadvantaged pupils are supported to thrive both academically and personally. It highlights not only the strong leadership in place, but also the collective dedication and hard work of staff, who have consistently implemented effective strategies to make a lasting difference for pupils.
This is a remarkable achievement and a moment of real pride for both school communities and Waterton, reflecting the dedication, care and ambition that drive such exceptional outcomes.
