MAT Excellence Awards
Waterton Academy Trust has been shortlisted for Medium Sized MAT of the Year at the 2026 MAT Excellence Awards, a national programme recognising impact, innovation and achievement across multi-academy trusts.
The Trust is one of only eight organisations shortlisted in this category, alongside trusts demonstrating strong practice and outcomes for both children and adults across the education sector. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London this June.
This recognition is testament to the strength of leadership across Waterton Academy Trust and the collective commitment of colleagues working in our schools and central teams. It reflects the expertise, care and dedication of staff who support pupils and families every day, alongside the strategic, operational and specialist work that enables our schools to thrive.
As legendary coach Vince Lombardi observed, individual commitment to a shared purpose is what allows teams, organisations and communities to flourish. This shortlisting therefore recognises the collaborative culture that underpins our Trust – where excellence is achieved through shared responsibility, strong partnerships and a belief that every contribution matters.
From classrooms and playgrounds to leadership, operational support and the many unseen moments that sustain school communities, this achievement reflects the combined efforts of our entire Trust community.
We are proud that the work taking place across Waterton Academy Trust continues to make a meaningful difference for children, families and colleagues, and we look forward to celebrating alongside peers from across the sector in June.
