Waterton Has Stars Shines Bright Once Again

This week saw the return of our much-loved Trust-wide event, Waterton Has Stars. This event is a true celebration of talent, dedication, and community across our schools.
Seventeen acts took to the stage, representing each of our schools, our preschools, and our specialist provision. The standard of performance was exceptional, showcasing an inspiring range of talents including dance, singing, musical performances, and even synchronised swimming! The audience in the busy Normanton Junior Academy school hall was captivated throughout.

What stood out most was the courage and commitment shown by every performer. Many pupils dedicated their lunchtimes and break times to rehearsing, demonstrating real determination and pride in their performances. From our youngest participants to our oldest students, each performer represented their school, and Waterton, with confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Just as inspiring were the pupils’ attitudes towards one another. Throughout both the daytime rehearsals and evening performance, there were countless moments of genuine kindness and care. Children played together across schools, made sure those performing solo were never alone, and consistently encouraged and celebrated one another. We saw older pupils supporting younger ones, offering reassurance to those who were nervous, and showing real compassion. Whether that was holding hands to keep each other safe on the stairs or comforting a peer who felt overwhelmed. These moments truly reflected a strong sense of togetherness and highlighted what a kind and supportive group of children we have across our Trust.

Events of this scale are only possible thanks to the dedication of our staff teams. Colleagues across the Trust have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the event to life – organising logistics, supporting rehearsals, managing sound and lighting, sourcing materials, and creating fantastic costumes. Their commitment ensured a seamless and memorable experience for all involved.
Waterton Has Stars continues to be a highlight of the Trust calendar, bringing our community together and celebrating the many talents of our pupils. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved and grateful to all who contributed to its success. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
