Celebrating Success at Lee Brigg Infant and Nursery School
Waterton Academy Trust is proud to announce that Lee Brigg Infant and Nursery School has been recognised by Ofsted with a ‘Strong Standard’ across all areas under the new national inspection framework.
This is a significant and rare achievement. With the introduction of Ofsted’s new framework, schools are now assessed across a range of domains rather than receiving a single overall grade.
The inspection report celebrates the school’s inclusive and aspirational culture, noting:
- “This truly is a school for everyone.”
- A “tangible sense of belonging” felt throughout the school
- “Exemplary behaviour” and highly positive attitudes to learning
- The impact of strong collaboration across the Trust in supporting effective leadership
Inspectors also highlighted the consistently high-quality teaching, strong routines, and a carefully designed Early Years curriculum, with communication and language at its core .
Luke Welsh, Executive Headteacher, said:
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement. It reflects the sustained commitment of our staff, the enthusiasm and character of our pupils, and the strength of our wider school community. To achieve this outcome at the very start of a new national framework is particularly special.”
Laurabeth Kilkenny, Head of School, added:
“This recognition celebrates the culture we have built together—one where every child is known, valued and supported to succeed. We are proud of what our school represents and excited for the future.”
Dave Dickinson, CEO, shared:
“The inspection team saw the school at its very best, and this is a great credit to the dedication, professionalism and daily commitment of the whole staff team, led so ably by Executive Headteacher, Luke Welsh, and Head of School, Laurabeth Kilkenny. This success is, of course, a reflection not only of the outstanding work of the Lee Brigg team, but also of the support provided from across all areas of the Trust. It demonstrates the collective strength of our schools , our central teams, our governance arrangements, and the collaborative culture that underpins our work. Well done to all involved!”
This outcome stands as a strong example of Waterton Academy Trust’s commitment to equity and excellence, ensuring every child receives the very best start in life.
