MAT Excellence Awards
Following our recent shortlisting for Medium Sized MAT of the Year at the 2026 MAT Excellence Awards, our Deputy CEO, Marie Claire Bretherton, and Trustee, Andy Goudie, attended the awards evening in London on behalf of Waterton Academy Trust.
The event brought together some of the most respected and high-performing trusts from across the country, all united by a shared commitment to making a positive difference for children, families and communities through education. It was a privilege to be in a room with so many dedicated professionals who are striving every day to improve outcomes and opportunities for young people.
While we were not successful in securing the award on this occasion, being shortlisted for this national award is an achievement of which we can all be immensely proud. Given the significant number of nominations received, this recognition reflects the strength of our Trust, the impact of our work and the collective efforts of colleagues across our schools and central teams.
Awards such as these provide an opportunity to celebrate excellence across the sector, but they also serve as a reminder that the real measure of success lies in the difference we make every day for the children and communities we serve. Our shortlisting was recognition of that work and of the culture, commitment and collaboration that exist throughout Waterton Academy Trust.
Thank you to every colleague who contributes to our shared vision. This recognition belongs to all of us, and we are grateful for the dedication, expertise and care that continue to make Waterton Academy Trust such a special organisation.
